In Ethiopia, the wetland project (2014-2016) by Afriflora is showing first results. After the establishment of a large scale natural wetland on the Sher farm, it is already filtering and re-using all waste water on the 27 HA farm in Adami Tulu, saving no less than 40,500 litres water a day.
The latest sample analysis indicated that the water coming out of the wetland is of such good quality that possible overflow could be released in the lake .
The learning and experience of this project is already being shared with several interested public and private stakeholders. The concept may be further upscaled on farm and also serves as example for other large scale farms in the area.
