The SMS Hucasa project is designed to improve soil conditions through trainings, effective soil nutrition and the re-use of compostable coffee pulp in Huila, Cauca and Satander. The project aims to increase farm productivity and reduce farming costs while facilitating better working conditions, compliance to international standards and the reduction of soil contamination and greenhouse gasses through efficient use of agro-inputs. By improving soil conditions and increasing farm productivity in cost-reducing ways, a more stable supply of sustainable coffee is available and farmers can develop long-term business relations with buyers.
