Legal Counsel – Utrecht, the Netherlands

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Legal Counsel with an interest in supply chain sustainability to join our team, and we hope it’s you!

The role

As a Legal Counsel, your main responsibilities include:

  • Support one of our business units with legal advice on contracting law matters, with a focus on reviewing and negotiating agreements.
  • Advise your colleagues within IDH on areas of law such as procurement, competition, and intellectual property.
  • Proactively identify legal issues and come up with solutions, while keeping the balance between business interest and control in mind.
  • Liaise with the Legal team to support the continuous improvement of legal policies, processes and templates and provide training to the rest of the organization, in close liaison with the Legal team

This position is based at our HQ in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

You are a legal expert that likes to find solutions for (legal) challenges and give pragmatic advice to colleagues from different backgrounds and cultures. You are flexible but also have a critical mind and enjoy working in a dynamic environment that values continuously implementing improvements. You find it easy to self-organise and prioritize. You have an eye for detail but are also able to zoom out and identify and address organisation-wide challenges.

You execute projects quickly, are result-oriented, flexible and have the skills and attitude necessary to mitigate IDH’s legal risks.

What you bring

  • A master’s degree in Dutch law, Competition Compliance Law, or International Private Law
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience in the Law field, preferably experience with contracting
  • Strong communicator, Fluent in English (both written and verbal) Speaking Dutch is desirable – but not mandatory.
  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial, and independent
  • Strong problem-solving mentality
  • Demonstrable knowledge or prior experience with procurement and competition law is considered a plus.

We offer you

A challenging, pivotal role within an impacting, international organisation – and:

  • A salary range between EUR 3,830 – 4,788 (excluding 8% holiday allowance) per month (based on a 40-hour work week), job level 16. The job level is evaluated based on IDH methodology; the successful candidate will be placed within the range depending on relevant work experience. The selection process is conducted, applying STAR interview methodology.
  • A full-time (40 hours) 1 year contract initially, with the intention to extend (as this is a permanent position).
